| Circuit Training Worksheet (for Lesson 8 of Y1O/11 PE Programme.) The aim of Circuit Training is to improve local muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, cardiorespiratory fitness and strength. It involves a number of exercises, set out so that you avoid exercising the same muscle group consecutively. Each exercise takes place at a ‘station’. CT normally takes place indoors in a gym/sportshall. The exercises are carried out for a length of time, eg. 30-45 seconds, or to a set target of repetitions (REPS), according to the fitness level of the individual/group. After completing each SET of REPS, the athlete moves on to the next exercise. This continues until all the exercises in the circuit are complete. Often the circuit is repeated again, after a brief rest period at the end of the circuit. There is also a short period of rest between the stations/exercises. 13/01/2002 22:04 CFLeonard |
