| High Intensity Training This is where the body is working flat out, as powerfully as it possibly can! Obviously, it can only sustain this work rate for a short period of time. It is therefore, an ANAEROBIC activity. When HIGH INSTENSITY training is the theme of an INTERVAL TRAINING SESSION, then the body MUST be given long recovery periods, so that it can sustain the intensity without the effects of OXYGEN DEBT slowing it down. Examples of H.I. training would be: 6 times 1 length of the pool in under 30 seconds with 3 minutes rest. 6 times 150 metres on the track in under 22 seconds with 4 minutes rest. 4 times Basketball Court in under 40 seconds per effort, with shooting, passing, dribbling drills for 5 minutes as the recovery. |
